Use Nitrofurantoin with caution:
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease or a history of liver problems, as dosage adjustment may be necessary.
  • Avoid using Nitrofurantoin if you are pregnant near term (38 to 42 weeks) or during labor and delivery, as it may cause hemolytic anemia in the newborn.
  • Discuss with your healthcare provider about potential drug interactions, especially if you are taking medications such as magnesium trisilicate, probenecid, or antacids containing magnesium trisilicate.
