What is Omeprazole?

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat stomach and esophagus problems such as acid reflux, ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces, providing relief from symptoms and helping to heal acid-related damage to the esophagus and stomach lining.

Description

How does Omeprazole Work?

Omeprazole works by blocking the enzyme in the wall of the stomach that produces acid. By reducing acid production, it helps to alleviate symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation, and difficulty swallowing. It also promotes healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid).
